Norris Edges Out Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the points lead from his teammate by one point after winning in Mexico City a fortnight back, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before sprint qualifying due at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points behind Norris, finished in 17th place as his Red Bull team ran a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, albeit lightly, when he rotated at the fourth corner soon after starting.
The Japanese lost control over the exit kerbs before spinning across the run-off area, and was fortunate to avoid just a light touch of the fence.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the conclusion of the session, spinning around through the fast downhill Mergulho corner approaching the final corner on to the pit straight.
The seven-time champion wrapped up in 19th, trailing teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the rest of the field, with the German's car P3, over half a second behind Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was in fourth, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
